Finally, something FREE to do on Halloween in Orlando

If you're not among the lucky ones with Halloween weekend tickets for Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights, Walt Disney World's Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, or Sea World's Spooktacular -- or if you simply don't want to endure those crowds -- then this is the blog post for you. The Orlando Science Center will have their Seventh Annual Spooktacular Science Extravaganza this Sunday, October 31, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This event is FREE with your regular museum admission. It offers an entire day's worth of family-friendly, educational, Halloweeny activities. The OSC encourages visitors to attend in costume and enjoy all the ghoulish goings on -- here are the details, from the OSC website:

"Listen to Halloween music throughout the building as you learn how to make “Ghost Goop”, have an educational team demonstration about snakes and scorpions, witness a Gator creature feeding, learn all about blood, scabs and bruising and let out your inner spooky scientist as you watch experiments about dry ice and liquid nitrogen.

The multiple floors at the Science Center will provide an abundant opportunity for children to discover the secrets behind some of the most famous mythological and mysterious monsters. The youngest ghosts and goblins will be welcomed into KidsTown, where they will hear the truth behind “fairy tales” such as Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, and Peter and the Wolf while also enjoying face painting and animal activities.

The DinoDigs exhibit on level floor will showcase a session for children on creepy crawly critters like snakes and scorpions. Activities will also include a sand dig activity where the little ones dig for gold coins, spider rings, and hourglasses. Children will explore hieroglyphics - one of the oldest recorded forms of writing - as well as learning the historical importance of the Rosetta Stone. Other activities include a bloody bingo competition and the chance to sport a fake bruise or scab by a local makeup expert. "

The event is indoors, which means everything will happen rain or shine. Admission is only $17 for adults and $12 for kids aged 3-11 (younger than 3 get in free).
