BREAKING NEWS for American Idol Fans -- Winner to be at Disney's Hollywood Studios

The news was announced barely an hour ago via the Disney Parks Twitter: "We can confirm that the new American Idol, Scotty McCreery, is scheduled to be honored at Disney's Hollywood Studios in a gala motorcade on Monday, May 30, 2011."

This is big news for fans and for park goers -- if you're both, get in line EARLY to grab the best photo spots! Disney suggests spots along Hollywood Boulevard for "prime" viewing. It'll be a mad dash to get those spots, I am sure!

Early details have things starting at 10am, with the car arriving at the park entrance and heading down Hollywood Boulevard to the Sorcerer Mickey Hat, then taking a left toward the American Idol Experience attraction. There will be a specially-constructed stage just for the occasion, and Scotty will pose for pics with some Disney favorites (including Mickey and Minnie). An on-stage interview is scheduled as well, and there are already rumors of a performance.

For those vacationers and park goers who are NOT American Idol fans, this is a good day to avoid Hollywood Studios, as the crowds are expected to be massive, even more than the already-capacity crowds known to hit the park for the holiday weekend. In fact, this might be a good day to skip Disney entirely and hang at another theme park or even just chill in the hotel pool.
