On October 12, Grande Lakes Orlando will open Whisper Lakes Farm, and proponents of eating local have a reason to celebrate. With the bounty produced by the 7,000 square foot fruit and vegetable "garden," the resort plans to offer authentic farm-to-table experiences for visitors and will also use the harvest in its restaurants, bars, and spas. Onsite dining options will include a plated dinner for up to 100 people, family style meals for up to 250, Argentinian and Uruguayan-style barbeques, and a special Chef's Table for up to 12 - complete with hammocks for resting after a hard day of picking and sampling the farm's produce. Future plans include live event space, chicken coops, onsite composting, cooking classes, and a fire pit.
To celebrate the grand opening, Grande Lakes Orlando is partnering with Slow Food Orlando for the SLOW DOWN Dinner. In addition to a meal of seasonal organics, Argentinian barbeque, signature cocktails, and craft beer, guests will also be treated to visits from local chefs and farmers. The evening will be topped off with a silent auction, which will benefit Slow Food Orlando.
The SLOW DOWN Dinner will take place on Friday, October 12 from 7pm - 10pm. Member tickets are $110, and guest tickets are $125. All taxes and gratuities are included.
