There have been many incarnations of Mickey Mouse over the years, from Steam Boat Willie to the Sorcerer's Apprentice to the very CG'ed Mickey in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. But you've never seen him like this before. Mickey will be returning to the small screen with his 1920s/1930s look, but he'll be placed in front of a 1960s-style backdrop and drawn by the modern cartoonists responsible for Spongebob Squarepants and Powerpuff Girls (to name a few).
Although the shorts don't come out until June, the first has been leaked online. (However, Disney caught wind of this and is working to remove the videos as they post.) But, if the stills released by Disney are any indication, these new cartoons are going to be amazing. Mickey and his friends will be traveling to different geographical spots in each cartoon from New York City to Paris to Tokyo.
You can find out more about the planned shorts here.
