No Awkward Teen Years Here -- Happy 14th Birthday, Loews Portofino Bay Resort!

September 26, 2013 0

Universal Orlando's grande dame is 14 years old today, and she hasn't aged a bit. The hotel features 750 rooms (including 45 suites and even pet-friendly rooms), three gorgeous swimming pools, eight restaurants and lounges, complimentary transportation to local theme parks (but not Walt Disney World), the fabulous Mandara Spa, Kids Camp, and a lot more.

But perhaps the biggest draw of the Portofino (along with sister Universal Orlando resorts Hard Rock Orlando and the Loews Royal Pacific) are the exceptional Universal Orlando park perks, more than any other theme park hotel so far. Here's the list of the major ones:

  • FREE Universal Express℠: Unlimited ride access via a special line in both theme parks, ALL DAY (normally $89 per person, per day)
  • Early Admission to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ one hour before the theme park opens
  • Complimentary water taxis, shuttle buses or walking paths to both theme parks and Universal CityWalk®.
  • Priority seating at select restaurants throughout both theme parks and CityWalk

And with Halloween Horror Nights now happening, there is no better time to visit this lovely birthday girl (yes, I give hotels genders).

A great deal for a great cause -- 15% off Champagne Brunch

October 25, 2011 0

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Hyatt Grand Cypress has a great way for you to support the cause while enjoying some amazing food. Simply wear pink on Sunday, October 30th, and you will receive 15% off at the La Coquina Champagne Brunch.

This is a fantastic deal. La Coquina's brunch is truly incredible. For one thing, it's massive, covering several rooms of the restaurant. The set-up is like a stylized kitchen, including very open prep and cooking stations where you can watch chefs cooking your entrees, and you can wander and graze as much as you like. The brunch features fresh fruit, fresh seafood (including a raw bar), pastries, a caviar station, cheese and antipasti, pasta, tapas, meats (including seasonal game -- a must-try), and so much more. View a sample menu; remember selections change on a regular basis, based on availability and season.

Don't miss this deal. Support an important cause and enjoy possibly the best brunch in Central Florida, and a contender for one of the best brunches on the east coast. Reservations are strongly recommended; book now and don't miss out.
