New Updates On Disney World's Star Wars Hotel

Disney's Star Wars Hotel

Disney has certainly been utilizing as much of the Star Wars brand as they possibly are able to every since they purchased the franchise.  They have been pumping out blockbuster after blockbuster in theaters across the world, and WOW have they been entertaining.  For years their Star Wars Weekend has always been one of the most anticipated, attended, and wildest weeks of the year, as thousands of park visitors show up in the favorite character's cosplay.  However fans have long hears rumors, and have been waiting, for the soon to be unveiled Stars Wars Land and Star Wars Hotel.

The new Star Wars Land, which will be called Star Wars : Galaxy's Edge, is currently under construction, and should open a little before the hotel.  We already know that it will be 14-acres of Star Wars mania, and will be located in Disney's Hollywood Studios.  For those unfamiliar, the Walt Disney World Resort has 4 major theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Magic Kingdom.

There's been a ton of building and expansion happening at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and we've just learned that the wild Star Wars Hotel will be located next to the newly expanded parking lot.  We are also told that there will be some levels of inter-connectivity between the hotel and Galaxy's Edge.  Currently, there are more than 25 Disney Resort hotel locations at the Walt Disney World Resort, and there are promises that this hotel will be something unique and special.  For example, guest rooms WILL NOT have windows to the outside world.  At least not to the outside world of Florida.  Rather, guests will have visions and views of deep space and the outer Star Wars Galaxy.

"All crafts, prepare to jump into hyper drive.  On my mark!"

Disney World's Star Wars Premiere Party Sells Out Fast

November 06, 2015 0
Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Disney's Hollywood Studios put together a very cool "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" premiere event on December 17th.  Tickets for the event were put on sale between $94.99 and $99.99, and they sold out quick.  Lucky ticket holders will watch the movie at the AMC Disney Springs 24 theater, and then attend an after party at the Star Wars Launch Bay exhibit.  Although it's a pricey event, it's going to be a pretty cool night for Star Wars fans.  We would expect to see a lot of movie goers in full costume.  For the rest of us, we'll have to wait a few more days for the official release, on December 18th, 2015.

For fans excited to see and be a part of the new 14-acre Stars Wars Land that is coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios, there's no need to worry.  As it was first reported here, it isn't slated to open until next year.

May the force be with you...

Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination

April 01, 2013 0
For all of you who just can't wait for Disney's Star Wars Weekends in May, we have a little treat for you to enjoy right now. Through April 7, the Orlando Science Center will be exhibiting "Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination."

The exhibit features all of the things you'd normally expect - props, costumes, and models - but it also provides a dose of the science behind the out-of-this-world technology. The exhibit is included in the normal admittance cost of the Museum, and the hours are from 10am - 5pm. More information can be found here.

Remember, young Padawans, it's all fun and games until someone loses a hand to a lightsaber.

Return of the Star Wars Weekends

March 16, 2013 0
Back in January, we let you know that the dates for Disney's Star Wars Weekends had been announced. Now we're back with more details! This year is especially exciting because it's the 30th anniversary of “Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi”, and the poster features Mickey (along with Chip and Dale) flying through the forests of Endor on a speeder bike.

If that's not enough to get you excited, maybe this will help: Ray Park, who played Darth Maul in the recent prequels, will make an appearance for Weekends I and II.  Warwick Davis, who played Wicket W. the Ewok (and was also in Willow and the Harry Potter films) will be there for Weekends II and III.

Want to make sure you're always in the loop for the latest details? Bookmark Disney's Star Wars Weekends page, and check back here frequently.

It's official: The Force will be with Legoland November 9, 2012

October 18, 2012 0

The holidays are coming early for Star Wars™ and LEGO® fans -- the official opening date for LEGOLAND®'s Star Wars and LEGO Miniland Model Display is November 9, 2012.

The new park section will include a LEGO scene from each of the six iconic films (ok, three iconic films plus the three not-quite-iconic prequels) plus one from the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars™. More than 1.5 million LEGO bricks will have been used in the construction of the scenes, which will be in 1:20 scale and will feature some creations that exceed six feet in height. Additionally, several scenes will be feature interactive buttons that allow guests to animate sections of the scenes.

Will this be enough to entice holiday vacationers away from the many events in the main Orlando theme parks? LEGOLAND is counting on several big factors that might bring the numbers -- their family-friendly, interactive atmosphere; LEGO enthusiasts (who span all ages); and, of course, the Star Wars fans. Given the enthuisiasm of the latter two, in particular, I have a feeling LEGOLAND will manage against the Big Three just fine.
