The beloved parade, recently resurrected for the Walt Disney World Summer 2010 season, has been extended indefinitely! The official Walt Disney World blog broke the news this morning -- the parade will be on an open-ended run when Summer Nightastic ends on August 14, 2010.
Park vice president Phil Holmes said that the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade has been an "overwhelming success," and no surprise there! The parade was one of the most missed events from WDW's past and people were ecstatic when it was brought back. Returning it to its rightful place at the end of a Magic Kingom night was a great decision on the part of the Powers That Be, and I personally hope it stays permanently.
The extended run of the parade will include the new enhancements that debuted in June 2010:
- Tinkerbell leads the procession, as she waves to the crowd from a balloon floating above her magical, shimmering, fairy-lit garden
- Pinocchio and the Lost Boys join the parade in a float celebrating the film's Pleasure Island sequence
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarves also join the fun, from their sparkling diamond mine float
Everything sparkles and sounds fantastic thanks to new lighting effects and sound technology, courtesy of the always-amazing Disney Imagineers.

That is excellent news! I'm planning a trip there next year, and was a little bummed at the thought of not getting to see this.
I didn't realize the parade had been discontinued. I will be taking my grandkids there in 2 weeks and would have been really disappointed if the parade I raved to them about no longer existed. This is good news!
so whats happening to spectromagic parade then?
I am so glad to see it return. My children really enjoyed seeing the parade every visit that we attend. I am so glad. WDW isn't the same without it. I am planning another visit next year. Can't wait. Thanks!! Richard
How does this differ from Spectomagic other than some new floats?
I much prefer Spectromagic parade! ;( i go between 4-6 times per year and i quite enjoyed the electrical parade but find spectro superior. I appreciated the Summer fireworks but also look forward to the return of wishes!
This is great news. I thought I would miss out on seeing it. I will be there the 2nd week of Nov. 2010.
